- 1855 Robert Nicholson, the Engineer responsible for the first plans for the Severn Valley Railway, died. He was succeeded by John Fowler.[1]
- 1861 The last girder forming the river arch of Victoria Bridge was fixed in place.[2]
- 1903 GWR 3717 City of Truro was hand-timed at a speed claimed to be in excess of 100 miles per hour.[3]
- 1981 The water column at Highley was lifted into place using 30 ton steam crane RS 1091[4].
