Goods Wagons

The design of this LMSLondon Midland & Scottish Railway 9ft wheelbase van was based on a 1911 Midland Railway 10ft wheelbase van, although it was built at the former rival LNWRLondon & North Western Railway company works at Wolverton in 1928. The ends were built with vents, which were removed during departmental service.[1]

It arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway on 12 February 1993 from Banbury.[1] It was considered in good condition, requiring only repairs to one of the sliding doors and a quick repaint before entering service.[2] The van was used in an episode of Oh Doctor Beeching! at Arley in 1996, when it supposedly contained a lion.

The photograph shows the van at Bewdley in 2015. It is privately owned.[3]
