I believe the unidentified crane at Eardington which was added on this page is DW35, aka 'Toby Jiblets', which was listed under Wagons. Having checked, some cranes and runners were included on the Wagons page while some were also on this page. For consistency I have categorised all the cranes and crane runners /match trucks under Other rolling stock. --Robin (talk) 20:54, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

July 2020. On 15 July 2020 a tamper moved by road from Williton, All records of a tamper on the WSR are that it would be Plasser & Thuerer 07-275 tamping machine DR73309, owned by B&R Track Services, but I've seen nothing to confirm that. Leigh King on Facebook says "The one at highley will be going for scrap and will be replaced with the one from Summerset". I'm not sure which of the two SVR tampers that would refer to. I've not yet made changes--Patrick Hearn (talk) 22:30, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

:Not a definite answer, but I've not seen RU411 at Highley for a couple of years now. I have a feeling it may already have been scrapped (maybe someone on Facebook would know?). 73202 was in use last year but it was being propelled by the Class 37 rather than moving under its own power, so I suspect it may not be in the best condition; that would be my bet. For future reference, DR73309 was P&T works number 553 of 1978, the BR Departmental number was DB966086 and it was allocated to Newport in service.

:Strictly speaking there is actually a second tamper at Highley still, the 'mystery object', but I don't imagine it is that one! --Robin (talk) 12:18, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Cranes and match trucks

I believe the unidentified crane at Eardington which was added on this page is DW35, aka 'Toby Jiblets', which was listed under Wagons. Having checked, some cranes and runners were included on the Wagons page while some were also on this page. For consistency I have categorised all the cranes and crane runners /match trucks under Other rolling stock. --Robin (talk) 20:54, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Tampers

I'm not sure which of the two SVRSevern Valley Railway tampers that would refer to. I've not yet made changes--Patrick Hearn (talk) 22:30, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Not a definite answer, but I've not seen RU411 at Highley for a couple of years now. I have a feeling it may already have been scrapped (maybe someone on Facebook would know?). 73202 was in use last year but it was being propelled by the Class 37 rather than moving under its own power, so I suspect it may not be in the best condition; that would be my bet. For future reference, DR73309 was P&T works number 553 of 1978, the BRBritish Rail or British Railways DepartmentalRolling stock used for the railway’s own functions (engineering etc.) rather than for general passenger or goods traffic. number was DB966086 and it was allocated to Newport in service.[1]
Strictly speaking there is actually a second tamper at Highley still, the 'mystery object', but I don't imagine it is that one! --Robin (talk) 12:18, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
