It is one of 40 cylindrical Gas Liquor Tanks built between 1895 and 1911 and used for the bulk transport of creosote, ammonia, gas oil and lubricating oil. The tanks, which had a capacity of 3108 gallons, were built by the GWR’s Locomotive Department rather than the Wagon Department, as the former had the experience in building large iron barrel shapes.<ref name=SB9>SVR Stock Book 9th Edition</ref> | ||
