:Reading the earlier comments, a 'From the window' page does indeed sound like a good idea.  Are things like the Carriage Shed and the Diesel Depot part of the SVR's infrastructure to go here (like the turntable) or are they 'from the window' items?  Thoughts welcome.  --Robin (talk) 21:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

:: I'd probably put those in. I was also considering linking through the station pages, e.g. Highley Barrow Crossing - Highley Station - Crossing at the top of Highley bank. It's probably useful to try and work out which crossings aren't listed, and I'm especially doubtful of the section between Highley and Hampton - there's crossings listed that I can't identify off the top of my head, and some others which I don't think are listed! As an aside, I've given the link to the list out to the latest signalling trainees, to help them get familiarised with the line. They do a line walk as part of their training, but this page helps highlight the important features, and is honestly far better than anything the SVR has officially put together! --Danny252 (talk) 08:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Revision as of 08:52, 11 June 2015

I've created this page as a merger of List of level crossings and List of bridges and viaducts, although I've left those two pages in existence in case we decide to split them apart again! --Danny252 (talk) 11:16, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Considering the possible impact to the SVRSevern Valley Railway's re-opening on time due to possible over-running Severn Trent/Amey works it's surprising that there is no reference to the Elan Valley aqueduct amongst the List of infrastructure.Boldford (talk) 14:31, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

I put the content of the original two pages together by going through the General Appendix route map (online version) and listing all the crossings, bridges and tunnels in it. The EVA isn't marked on it as infrastructure, just mentioned in an annotation describing a nearby PWay access gate.--WillSalt (talk) 18:04, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

I suppose once it's all buried and backfilled, it's not a structure as such and the railway has no responsibility to maintain it. I was going to do some sort of "From the window" page eventually to cover landmarks like this, including the aqueduct, Dowles Bridge piers, Trimpley Reservoirs, Daniel's Mill etc. --Graham Phillips 110 (talk) 18:12, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

That sounds like a good idea - the booklet the railway offers to passengers might be good for suggesting what sights to include. --WillSalt (talk) 18:17, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

I've created stub pages for all of the locations, so at least you can now click through the entire line from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster. Hopefully photos will follow! --Danny252 (talk) 12:53, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! I've got photos of most of the rest, which I'm still going through working out which is which (and how many crossings I've found so far that aren't listed!). Will add more photos when I get a few moments.
Reading the earlier comments, a 'From the window' page does indeed sound like a good idea. Are things like the Carriage Shed and the Diesel Depot part of the SVRSevern Valley Railway's infrastructure to go here (like the turntable) or are they 'from the window' items? Thoughts welcome. --Robin (talk) 21:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
