So here's a fun question: at what point did 46521 acquire a bell, and how did that come about? Photo 1 Photo 2 (front right hand side of buffer beam) --Danny252 (talk) 21:06, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

A lazy image search on Google shows it with a bell in 1982 but not in 1983, if it helps in dating the image--Patrick Hearn (talk) 22:45, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
46521 didn't have the bell in August 1974 just after entering service (photo in SVRSevern Valley Railway News 33 p7), so it acquired it between then and David Rostance's photo in May 1975. That was just before the repaint as an Austrian loco for the Seven Per Cent Solution, although I haven't seen any photos of the bell in that guise. Maybe just 'owners prerogative' - an article in SVRSevern Valley Railway News 23 refers to Charles Newton's "liking for the SNCF locos" (French railways) while the note on Photo 1 refers to a "RENFE copy" (Spanish railways). --Robin (talk) 20:30, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
