According to the Index of Wagon Diagrams in Atkins et al volume 1, wagons built to Diagram V18 included both MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van and MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A versions. Lot 919 is shown as MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A (numbers 104001-499, typical tare 6t 17cwt) and Lot 920 as MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van (numbers 104501-105489, typical tare 6t 8cwt).

104621 fell in Lot 920 and is painted with a tare of 6t 8cwt, which the Index suggests makes it a MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van. However Atkins et al volume 2 confirms that the MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A is the ventilated version. 104621 is ventilated, and the Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey has pictures of a number of other Minks in the range 104501-105489 all of which are also ventilated. All are thus correctly described as MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A as per volume 2, which leads me to suspect that the type descriptions may be transposed in the Index, ie Lot 919 should be MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van and 920 MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A.

There does seem to be an exceptional amount of confusion online between MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van and MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van-A, with several sites perpetuating the apparent error that Lot 919 is MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van A and Lot 920 is MinkGWR telegraphic code signifying a covered goods van. Annoyingly, the one surviving wagon from Lot 919, 104040, also apparently has vents: link. However, perhaps that's a later modification... --Danny252 (talk) 13:43, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
