Hartlebury Junction was situated 27 chainsAs a unit of measurement, 22 yards or 1/80th of a mile north of Hartlebury station, at a distance of 132 miles 15 chainsAs a unit of measurement, 22 yards or 1/80th of a mile from London Paddington. Mileages on the Severn Valley branch (Engineer’s Line Reference SVB) were measured from this point as far as Sutton Bridge Junction near Shrewsbury.

Signalling

The junction had its own signal box which opened in June 1876 and closed in April 1977.

1967 Accident

On 29 January 1967, a low speed head-on collision occurred between two freight trains at Hartlebury Junction, with diesel locomotives D7038 and D8138 involved. Whilst the locomotives stayed on the rails, several wagons did not, blocking the line.[1] Contemporary news footage shows the damage.
