It was considered one of the principal stations on the lineAfter being preserved in 1973, with two platforms it has been used as Santa's grotto and a passing loop from opening in 1862 as well more recently as a small goods yard and goods shed. The location of the station just a short way north of the town made it perhaps the most convenient of the Severn Valley Railway’s stations relative sales coach, but has yet to the town it servedsee operational service.
