Built National Cycle Route 45, also known as the "Mercian Way", travels in sections from 1929 Chester to 1949Salisbury, these medium-sized tank engines were used all over a total distance of 219 miles. Part of the GWR network and were regularly seen on route follows the Severn Valley Branch on both freight between the Ironbridge Gorge and passenger services after Bewdley, utilising sections of the 1950s. 5164 has been on static display at Barrow Hill since 2014; in 2022 new owners The Erlestoke Manor Fund announced plans to raise funds for its next overhaulformer trackbed and crossing the present day railway twice. For 101 years between 1862 and 1963, the Severn Valley Railway formed part of the national railway network, running for 40 miles between Hartlebury and Shrewsbury. Established as a separate company, it was mainly operated by the [[Great Western Railway]] (GWR) and later by British Railways (BR).
The present day [[Severn Valley Railway]] (SVR) was established in 1965 to preserve part of the line as a heritage railway. Today it has [[list of stations | six stations and two halts]] and runs for 16 miles along the Severn Valley between [[Bridgnorth]] in Shropshire and [[Kidderminster]] in Worcestershire, following the course of the River Severn for much of its route. Train services are hauled predominantly by Operations involve a mixture of steam locomotives, regularly supplemented by a diesel multiple unit and heritage diesel locomotive -hauled trainsservices.
This unofficial website is a project aimed to collect information and record events relating to the SVR, both past and present.
Unsurprisingly, there are a large number of questions about the SVR, both in pre-preservation days and for a number of historical items since then.
