At some point I'll tidy the resulting redirects in various articles (and check the articles to see if any of them refer to the wrong crane number within the text). There are also a few of my photos where the file name included 1087 - I'll probably amend their descriptions but not bother changing the file names themselves. ==Expiry of boiler ticket==
I seem to remember hearing or reading that the crane won't be overhauled again when it goes out of ticket (if it hasn't already?) but can't remember where I did so. Any thoughts or info welcome. --[[User:Robin|Robin]] ([[User talk:Robin|talk]]) 16:31, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

::Thanks, my memory may well be wrong! I don't think there's any prospect of it being sold (although given the Black 5, never say never!), just that with the two overhead cranes at Bridgnorth it now gets limited use there and there aren't that many civil engineering projects elsewhere, so it might be more cost effective to revert to the occasional hire rather than overhaul it for another boiler ticket.--[[User:Robin|Robin]] ([[User talk:Robin|talk]]) 12:18, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

Thanks to Patrick for the various recent changes relating to RS 1091's updated crane runner information. I was already thinking of an article of the week to mention it. It seems clear that the ex-Worth Valley Railway crane RS 1087 was the one scrapped, as mentioned in SVR News at various times. The surviving crane has the painted number 1091 (ex-Chester) on the upper works but the works plate of 1087 (ex-Worth Valley) on the running gear. We (I should probably say 'I') drafted both articles on the basis that 1087 is still present, based on the works plate. However there must be some question over whether the running gear was swapped or just the works plate. Also while a loco ID is customarily given to the frame rather than the boiler, in the case of a crane, is the running gear or the upper works the more important bit? It would therefore probably be better to refer to the surviving crane as 1091, with a note on the query regarding its works plate.
