The RS 1087 is a 30-ton steam crane was built by Cowans Sheldon of Carlisle in 1960<ref>[http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/ws/WagonInfo.asp?Ref=7476 Vintage Carriage Trust]</ref><ref>[http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/RS1087 ontrackplant.com]</ref>. It was formerly used at BR's Chester West MPD, and was acquired by the SVR in 1977.
It is currently believed that the crane still existing on the SVR is RS1087/30RS 1087, but carrying the number RS1091/[[Cowans Sheldon 30-ton steam crane RS 1091|RS 1091]], which formerly belonged to another crane owned by the SVR, which was cut up in 2010.
