Talk:2047 Warwickshire

A possible discrepancy has arisen. This page says members "raised the necessary funds by a share issue (£150 for the locomotive and £150 for transport and spares)." Warwickshire Industrial Locomotive Preservation Group page says: "Members who each subscribed £10 to cover the purchase price (£150) and transport cost (£55) of bringing the locomotive to the SVRSevern Valley Railway"--Patrick Hearn (talk) 18:01, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

The wording in Michael Shaw's book is "Thirty shares in the locomotive were offered at £10 each. This was to raise £150 to buy 2047 and £150 for transport and spares. The shares were all sold and the WILPG was in business." Checking the source for the £55 referred to on the WILPG page, the wording is "The Group initially comprised of 30 Members who each subscribed the princely sum of £10 to cover the purchase price (£150) and transport cost (£55), the balance going towards the cost of restoration to working order."[1]. So I'm happy to add something along those lines on the WIPLG page to explain the difference. However it brings up a second problem. David Cooke's site says there were thirty members, which would make sense with thirty shares. Shaw only says that all the shares were sold, while SVRSevern Valley Railway News 13 is definite that 25 members of the WRS were involved, which would be possible if some bought two shares. All very confusing. --Robin (talk) 20:01, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
