Peter Copsey became acting interim Chairman of the Charitable Trust in 2020, succeeding John Leftwich. He was succeeded in 2021 by Keith Norton.

After graduating in law at University College London, he served his articles in the Black Country and qualified as a solicitor in 1979. He joined mfg Solicitors LLP (then Morton Fisher) in 1984 and became an LLP Member (Partner) in the company commercial division of that firm. His practice was company and commercial law issues such as mergers and acquisitions, general commercial advice and contractual matters, and commercial property.[1][2]

He built a wealth of charity experience from his active involvement with several building preservation trusts and as clerk to Sebright’s Educational Foundation, a large educational charity. He lived and worked in Kidderminster and has long been a regular visitor to the SVRSevern Valley Railway.[3] He became a Director of the Charitable Trust on 3 October 2016 and ceased on resigning the Chair on 30 July 2021.[4] He retired from practice later that year after nearly 45 years[5].
