On October 8 in SVRSevern Valley Railway history.

  • 1852 A public meeting was held at Bewdley to explain plans for development of the Severn Valley Railway. Opinions were strongly expressed that the line should go to Shrewsbury rather than Coalbrookdale as originally planned.[1]
  • 1947 The Shrewsbury to Hereford line was blocked, with trains diverted via Kidderminster. 5082 Swordfish was among the locomotives noted.[2]
  • 1972 The SVRSevern Valley Railway Civil Engineering Department visited Henley-in-Arden station to recover both water columns for use at Bridgnorth.[3]
  • 2010 The two day 'Railcar Reunion' saw a variety of visiting diesel railcars in use. Friday was 'diesel only'.
