Goods Wagons

This Bogie Rail Wagon was built by GRCWGloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company for the London Transport Board for use by London Underground Limited (LUL). The type was a post-World War 2 development of a 1936 design by London Transport CMEChief Mechanical Engineer William Graff-Baker, and when built was the longest all-welded steel wagon. As delivered it was fitted with a pair of 2-ton hoists[1].

It is sometimes referred to as the 'Arniki' wagon.

Preservation

It arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway on 11 April 1998 from Hatton Cross, where it had been in use on the Jubilee Line extension project. The 1998 Stock Book recorded that it was owned by SVR(H) and included a picture of the wagon with the two hoists in situ.[1] The picture shows the wagon at Arley in March 2015 without the hoists.
