Hanover Street was a 1979 Columbia-EMI-Warner Anglo-American wartime romantic film starring Harrison Ford, Lesley-Anne DownIn reference to the direction of travel means away from the major terminus (i.e. towards Bridgnorth on the present day SVR) and Christopher Plummer.

LMS Ivatt Class 2 46443 was used in filming, disguised as a continental locomotive (repeating a role from The Seven-Per-Cent Solution). Around 300 tons of ballast were purchased at the film company's expense, and spread on the track near Knowlesands and Foley Park tunnels to enable a motor cycle stuntman to ride along the track.
