In comparison with the later CollettCharles Benjamin Collett, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the Great Western Railway 1922-1941 carriages, the HawksworthFrederick Hawksworth, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the Great Western Railway 1941-1948 carriages can be distinguished by the sloping ended roof profile, while the length was also increased by 3ft to 64 ft. The Corridor Third seated 64 passengers.

829 was purchased direct from passenger service, arriving from Didcot in August 1968. It received full GWRGreat Western Railway livery in in 1977, and went on to feature in the Rocket 150 cavalcade at Rainhill in 1980.
