GWRGreat Western Railway 42138 'LoriotGWR telegraphic code signifying a machine truck D' Machinery Truck

42138 was built at Swindon in 1909 (SVRSevern Valley Railway Stock Book 9th Edition states 1908) to Diagram G18, Lot 584. It has a capacity of 15 tons. Originally designated a LoriotGWR telegraphic code signifying a machine truck B, it was re-classified as a LoriotGWR telegraphic code signifying a machine truck D in 1909[1], and as a "Lowmac WR" by BRBritish Rail or British Railways post-nationalisation.

The wagon remained in service with the GWRGreat Western Railway and later BRBritish Rail or British Railways(W) until 1984, when it was sent to Barry Scrapyard. It was rescued from there and arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway on 16 August 1984. It is owned by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund and is one of only two surviving LoriotGWR telegraphic code signifying a machine truck Ds.[2]
