It is classified as Non Passenger Carrying Coaching Stock (NPCCS). Prior to preservation it was also in DepartmentalRolling stock used for the railway’s own functions (engineering etc.) rather than for general passenger or goods traffic. use as No 079060.

The coach was purchased from Wantage Road near Didcot, arriving on the SVRSevern Valley Railway in March 1976.[3] It is believed to be the only remaining outside framed example.[4] It has previously seen use as Santa's Grotto and as a mobile store. It was photographed at Bewdley in March 2015. It is owned by the Great Western (SVR) Association and is now used as a store at Arley at Christmas in conjunction with Santa's Grotto.
