The brick abutments of Dowles Bridge, which still stand in 2015

Dowles Bridge formerly carried the Wyre Forest Line over the River Severn to the north of Bewdley, reached by a sweeping embankment curving off to the left from the Severn Valley Line. On opening in 1864, the Board of Trade Inspector's report described the bridge as "a viaduct over the Severn of 3 openings each of 70ft carried by wrought iron lattice girders on masonry piers and abutments".

The iron girders were removed in March 1966 after the closure of the Wyre Forest Line in April 1965, but the brick abutments still stand, and are visible from SVRSevern Valley Railway trains between Northwood Halt and Bewdley.
