The site of the Depot is currently (February 2015) in the process of being excavated ready for a completely new restoration and storage facility to be constructed. This valuable facility will contain two roads, and will have facilities such as a pit, and an overhead crane, which will allow the restoration of these complex but useful locomotives to take place. Facilities up until this point had been in the open air, with volunteers being exposed to the elements. The Depot is also home to a separate mess room facility for diesel group volunteers, as well as the railway's sleeping coach, which offers overnight accommodation to volunteer staff who are away from home.
