Railways north of Shrewsbury (Ordnance Survey 1903)

The extract from the Ordnance Survey Map of 1903 shows the area north of Shrewsbury Station. The GWRGreat Western Railway/LNWRLondon & North Western Railway Shrewsbury to Chester line (left) continues towards the northwest, while the LNWRLondon & North Western Railway line to Crewe (right) turns towards the northeast.

The GWRGreat Western Railway’s marshalling yards at Coton Hill were situated on the Shrewsbury to Chester line. They formed the terminus for goods services working northwards on the Severn Valley Line, including the daily freight working which contained the Station Truck.
