Bewdley Paint Shop

The Carriage & Wagon Department is effectively split in to two parts, with the three full time staff, and volunteers, based in the Paint Shop in Bewdley goods yard, focusing almost exclusively on carriages, while the majority of wagon repairs and restorations are carried out by the Wagon Department in the Goods Shed.

They also maintain the resident Ruston and Hornsby 165hp Diesel Shunter D2957 which is used for shunting duties in the yard and for shuttling rolling stock under restoration between Bewdley and Kidderminster.

Several carriage groups also operate here. These include the Great Western (SVR) Association, who recently outshopped GWR 650 Brake Third Open (Excursion) and whose current project is the rebuild of CollettCharles Benjamin Collett, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the Great Western Railway 1922-1941 designed GWR 6045 Bow-end Composite, the SVRSevern Valley Railway Charitable Trust's LNER Group who are currently doing odd jobs connected with the finishing of the restoration of GresleySir Nigel Gresley, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the London & North Eastern Railway 1923-1941 teak BTK 70759 (carriage at Kidderminster), and the DMU group.

The The 4150 Fund are actively restoring their GWR Large Prairie 4150, whilst The The 2857 Society, The 15xx Pannier Trust and The Erlestoke Manor Fund also have a presence here.
