200642 was built at Shildon in 1974 to Diagram 1/286 (VB003F), Lot 3480. The TOPS code VBA on this particular van signifies that it had an unventilated body with full length doors and fitted with air brakes. This Lot comprised both VBA and VAA (ventilated/full length doors).[2]
200642 arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway in September 2018, carrying the livery of former owners EWSEnglish, Welsh & Scottish Railway, a rail freight company. It was intended for use by the P-Way department, following the recent acquisition for that purpose of other air-braked rolling stock including the Rudd, Seacow and Parr wagons.
