2047 ‘Warwickshire’.

2047 in service

Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST Works No 2047, built in 1926, was the last locomotive to be built by Manning Wardle before the Company closed due to the post World War One recession. It was assembled using standard parts from various other classes, but is visually similar to the standard Manning Wardle "Q" class.

2047 worked for the Rugby Portland Cement Co Ltd at their New Bilton Works until being withdrawn from use in 1966.

2047 in preservation

Purchased by the Warwickshire Industrial Loco Preservation Group, 2047 arrived on the Severn Valley Railway in October 1967. It was named "Warwickshire" in 1970.

In 1989 the WILPG sent the boiler from 2047 Warwickshire to Pridhams for overhaul. It soon transpired that the thickness of the boiler plate was below the acceptable level for further use. Circa 1994, the WILPG formed the Warwickshire Industrial Locomotive Trust to raise funds for building a new boiler, with 2047 being cosmetically restored and placed on static display at Kidderminster Railway Museum in the meanwhile.

As of December 20145 the locomotive is undergoing an overhaul at the Bridgnorth Loco Works. The saddle tanks for 2047 and GWR 813 Saddle Tank can be seen stored outside the works on GWR 42343 Machinery Flat
