Summary
This picture shows the V twin engine to the right with its flywheel forming the driving member of the stepless reversible variable transmission.
The driven wheel, with its friction lining, can be seen on its splined shaft at right angles to the engine.
The transmission is seen here in mid gear. Sliding the driven wheel further towards the perimeter or centre of the flywheel would put it in a higher or lower gear respectively.
Sliding the driven wheel past the centre would reverse the direction of drive.
