Summary

Description
English: Washout at Highley. The severe storms of 19th June 2007 caused severe damage to the Severn Valley Railway at many locations between Bewdley and Bridgnorth. The worst was here at Highley where part of the formation was washed down towards the River Severn, visible in the distance. The washout demolished signalling equipment on the railway and badly damaged two, fortunately unoccupied, chalets on the hillside below. The track has been lifted to allow inspection and repairs to take place.

See also 552443 and 552446.

Such is the severity of the damage that it will probably be early 2008 before services can resume at this point, although the railway continues to operate between Bewdley and Kidderminster. For the latest situation see http://www.svr.co.uk/index.php
